Jamie Mauntler a former University of Toledo assistant coach and player, has been hired as the Rockets' head men's golf coach.

Mauntler, a Toledo native, takes over from John Connelly, who announced his resignation last Thursday in order to resume his professional golf career.

Mauntler served as the head women's coach at Eastern Michigan for the last three years. The Eagles finished second this season in the MAC championships.

A 1997 UT graduate with a degree in psychology, Mauntler was a three-year letter-winner for the Rockets (1994-96). He then was a Rockets' assistant men's coach for two seasons (1997-99).

Mauntler is Bowsher High School graduate and captured the City League golf championship as a junior.

“I am very excited to return to a program that was once a big part of my life,” said Mauntler. “I look forward to the challenge ahead of me and it's my goal to keep Toledo as a power in the Mid-American Conference as well as a contender on the national scene.”
