University of Toledo quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, who
passed for four touchdowns and ran for another in last Saturday s
42-17 win at Temple, was named West Division offensive player of
the week yesterday by the Mid-American Conference office.
Gradkowski completed 20 of 29 pass attempts for 182 yards and, in the process, became the UT career leader in passing yards and completions.
Also, Western Michigan punter Jim Laney, a product of St. Francis de Sales, was named West Division special teams player of the week.
He had punts of 58 and 59 yards and killed three kicks inside the Southern Illinois 20-yard line in a 34-28 Bronco victory.
