Rockets post win at Buffalo

AMHERST, N.Y. - Toledo claimed a 57-47 victory at Buffalo last night, improving to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in the MAC.

"This was a really big win," UT coach Mark Ehlen said. "When you drop four in arow and six of your last seven any win is a big win."

Redshirt freshman Diana Reindl led three Rockets in double figures with 14 points.

Junior Savannah Werner added 12 points and eight rebounds, while junior Danielle Bishop chipped in 13 points and four assists.

The Rockets shot an impressive 48.9 percent (23-of-47) from the floor.

The Rockets missed seven of their first eight shots and did not register their first field goal until 15:12 was left on an offensive putback by Werner.

Toledo then started to catch fire and hit four consecutive shots, including a pair by senior Amanda Davis, to take a 12-7 lead. It would be a lead the Rockets would not relinquish. At the same time, UT's defensive effort picked up, as it held the Bulls scoreless for the next 7:08.

"We knew going in we had to get out on their 3-point shooters and I thought we did a good job with that," Ehlen said. "Our defense was the difference in tonight's game."

The Rockets limited Buffalo to 11 points over the final 10 minutes, while knocking down some key free throws to help snap their four-game losing skid.
