UT women set 2 school swim marks
2/21/2008BUFFALO - The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team started the Mid-American Conference Championships with two school records and a MAC best time.
In the 200-medley relay, the Rockets finished first with a MAC and school record 1:41.32. Sophomore Meghan Reissig, junior Kylie Gamelier, freshman Amanda Thompson, and senior Leah Woodard also have an NCAA "B" standard time.
In the 800-freestyle relay, the Rockets finished second with a time of 7:22.58. Woodard, sophomore Caitlin Cormack, Reissig, and freshman Jacy Dyer broke the school record set in 2007 by Brie Henning, sophomore Ashley Cusack, Makenzie Manard, and Cormack. Woodard, Cormack, Reissig, and Dyer also made an NCAA "B" standard.
After both events, the Rockets are in first place with 74 points.
INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis tight end Dallas Clark can at least buy a ticket to Hawaii for the next six years if the Pro Bowl voters continue to overlook him.
Clark signed a six-year contract that should make him the highest-paid player at his position, though he's never been to the Pro Bowl.
•TEMPE, Ariz. - Defensive end Bertrand Berry has agreed to restructure the remaining year of his contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Berry was scheduled to make $4 million in the last year of a five-year contract.
CHARLOTTE - Robby Gordon was docked 100 points and his crew chief was suspended for six races and fined $100,000 as NASCAR penalized 10 teams in its three different national series for infractions found at Daytona International Speedway last weekend.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was one of seven drivers penalized for Nationwide Series infractions, and six crew chiefs were suspended. Todd Bodine, winner of the Truck Series race, and two crew chiefs were penalized.
