Triplett, McDougle still to face arraignment
5/14/2009DETROIT - Just two defendants remain who have yet to be arraigned in U.S. District Court for their alleged involvement in a point-shaving scheme at the University of Toledo.
As of Tuesday, no timetable had not been set for the voluntary surrender of former UT basketball player and Toledo native Keith Triplett after he and five other ex-Rockets were indicted May 6 on charges of conspiracy to commit sports bribery.
Former UT running back Harvey "Scooter" McDougle had been scheduled to be arrainged yesterday, but his appearance before Magistrate Judge Virginia Morgan was delayed.
Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of two other former UT football players, Adam Cuomo of Hagersville, Ont., and Quinton Broussard of Carrollton, Texas, yesterday.
Authorities say Mitchell Karam and Ghazi "Gary" Manni bet $407,000 on Toledo basketball games in 2005 and 2006 and paid players to shave points to control the final score.
