Illinois freshman and former Central Catholic standout Brianna Jones has decided to transfer and play for the University of Toledo women's basketball team.

Jones announced the move in an interview with The Blade on Friday afternoon.

A 6-foot-2 forward, Jones averaged 17.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game as a senior with the Irish, but she struggled in her freshman campaign at Illinois. She totaled just nine points and four rebounds in 12 games for the Fighting Illini and did not have her grant-in-aid renewed at the end of the season by coach Jolette Law.

β€œIt's nice to be coming back home,” Jones said. β€œI looked at Toledo when I was coming out of high school, but I wanted the opportunity to go away from home and see what else is out there. I don't regret my decision to leave Toledo, but for them to still want me makes this feel even better.”
