UT knocks off No. 16 Louisville
LOUISVILLE — A strong outing by sophomore pitcher Mike Hamann led the University of Toledo's baseball team to a 3-1 victory Friday over No. 16 Louisville.
UT (1-3) knocked off the Cardinals (3-1) on the strength of an outstanding pitching performance by Hamann (1-0). The right-handed hurler allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts in eight innings.
Matt Zahel came on in relief for the save.
UT's Mark Lapikas led off the game with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Matt Delewski, who had two hits. With two outs, he scored on a throwing error.
The Cardinals tied it in the second, but the Rockets went ahead with a two-out single by Chris Dudics in the third. In the fourth, Dan Sherwood led off with his second home run of the season. Sherwood moved into second place in UT history with 31 homers.
