Genoa native Wonnell leaving UT basketball team
5/19/2013Fan favorite Richard Wonnell is leaving the University of Toledo basketball team.
Wonnell, of Genoa, announced the departure Sunday on Twitter.
He wrote: "It's time for me to focus on life outside of basketball. I'm quitting the team. Not transferring, just not playing anymore."
Wonnell, a walk-on center beloved for his energetic play, appeared in all 28 games as a junior last season. He averaged 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 points in 12.4 minutes.
