The University of Toledo is taking steps to sell alcohol at its home football and basketball games, according to athletic director Mike O'Brien.School officials will meet in the coming weeks to discuss joining a growing trend in college athletics. If approved, UT's Glass Bowl will become the 12th on-campus major college football stadium to furnish alcohol and the 23rd stadium overall.

Beer and wine would first be offered Sept. 14 at the football home opener against Eastern Washington.

"The institution has looked at this as a possible additional revenue stream," O'Brien told The Blade.

Alcohol would also be sold at Savage Arena for basketball games.

Alcohol currently is available only in the press tower at the Glass Bowl and in the suite area at Savage Arena.

Toledo would be the fourth Mid-American Conference school to permit alcohol sales at campus sporting events. Bowling Green, Akron, and Kent State are the others.
