4 accused of drunk driving near UT

University of Toledo police arrested four drivers they believe were intoxicated during a sobriety checkpoint near the university from 9 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The checkpoint was on Dorr Street at Towerview South in West Toledo. Police also made 10 arrests on outstanding misdemeanor warrants, three arrests on other nontraffic offenses, and 12 citations for driving under suspension, authorities said.

Of the three nontraffic-related arrests, one involved having a firearm.

Nineteen officers participated from UT, the Ohio Highway Patrol, Lucas County sheriff’s office, Sylvania Township police, and Ottawa Hills police, along with three volunteers.

A total of 765 vehicles were stopped during the checkpoint and 60 were diverted.
