■ Among UT’s competition to land Cincinnati prospect Antonio Woods is the Rockets’ basketball program. Woods, a senior at Summit Country Day, holds a scholarship offer from both UT teams. If he chooses basketball, Woods (6 feet, 163 pounds) will play point guard. He projects to a receiver on the football field. Rumblings are he wants to play both sports.

■ Freshman quarterback Logan Woodside nearly convinced his high school teammate, Ryan Timmons, to join him at UT before the three-star receiver chose to stay in-state at Kentucky. Woodside had better success recruiting his girlfriend. Lauren Taylor is a freshman forward on the Rockets’ soccer team.

■ UT was among nine teams in the nation to have zero staff turnover. Bigger programs came after a few staff members, but assistants seem to like working for Campbell. That was evident two offseasons ago when he convinced four of them to stick around instead of following Tim Beckman to Illinois. Three assistants — offensive coordinator Jason Candle, running backs coach Louis Ayeni, and defensive coordinator Tom Matukewicz — are making six figures. There’s much to like about their jobs.
