The University of Toledo men's basketball team is picked by a wide margin to win the Mid-American Conference West division.

The Rockets picked up 24 of 25 first-place votes by the MAC News Media Panel.

Toledo's seven votes to win the MAC tournament title trail only Akron with 14. Buffalo (one) was the only other team to receive a vote.

Rounding out the West, in order, are Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan (one first place vote), Ball State, Central Michigan, and Northern Illinois.

Toledo and Western Michigan tied atop the West last season with the Broncos being declared champions because Toledo was ineligible for the award.

Two Rockets, Rian Pearson and Julius Brown, were named to the preseason West team along with Ball State's Majok Majok, Western Michigan's Shayne Whittingham, and Eastern Michigan's Glenn Bryant.

Bowling Green State University is picked to finish sixth in the East behind projected winner Akron, Buffalo, Ohio, Kent State, and Miami.

The preseason East team consists of Akron's Demetrius Treadwell and Quincy Diggs, Buffalo's Javon McCrea and Will Regan, and Miami's Will Felder.
