UT tops Stony Brook 103-99

DETROIT — The University of Toledo men's basketball team scored a big win tonight, topping Stony Brook 103-99 in the first round of the 2k Sports Classic at Calihan Hall.

Stony Brook has captured the America East regular season title in three of the past four seasons and is coming off a 25-win campaign a year ago.

All five Toledo starters were in double figures. Julius Brown had 23 points followed by Nathan Boothe and Rian Pearson with 15 a piece. J.D. Weatherspoon and Justin Drummond had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Toledo (4-0) will play host Detroit at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Anthony Jackson led Stony Brook (3-2) with 36 points and hit seven 3-pointers.
