Rockets get 1st road win in MAC

ATHENS, Ohio — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team climbed back from 21 points down in the second half Sunday to beat host Ohio 64-62.

The win was Toledo’s first on the road in Mid-American Conference play and pushed the Rockets to 9-9 (4-3).

All five starters scored in double figures led by Andola Dortch’s 17 points. Inma Zanoguera had 13 points, followed by 10 each from Ana Capotosto, Brianna Jones, and Janelle Reed-Lewis.

A pair of Zanoguera layups bookended an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to 43-33 with 14 minutes, 17 seconds left. The gap remained at 10 at the 8-minute media timeout before back to back 3-pointers by Capotosto and Reed-Lewis. Reed-Lewis made another 3 to cut the deficit to 56-54 with 3:34 left.

After Dortch tied the game with two makes from the free-throw line, Zanoguera gave the Rockets their first lead since 7-5 with a layup at the two-minute mark.

Capotosto made her second of two 3s with 1:28 to go for a three-point lead.

Dortch had nine assists, and Jones had eight rebounds.

Ohio (8-10, 3-4) received 18 points and five rebounds from Kiyanna Black.
