Mike Wells hired as UT basketball assistant coach

Former South Florida assistant basketball coach Mike Wells has been hired to the same position at the University of Toledo.

Wells, an Ohio native, has 17 years of NBA experience and was an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs during the team's 2007 championship season. He also worked as a scout for USA Basketball.

Wells transitioned to the college game three years ago at George Mason. He spent last season at South Florida and found his career in limbo after the school dismissed head coach Stan Heath.
