Dick Torio and Greg Wojciechowski have been intertwined for decades because of their wrestling background, and they will take the next step together as well.

The two former three-time All-America wrestlers from the University of Toledo will be inducted into the AAU National Wrestling Hall of Fame today in a ceremony at the ESPN Wide World of Sports facility in Orlando, Fla.

While at UT, Torio earned All-America honors at three different weight classes, placing third in the NCAA tournament at 177 pounds in 1951, fourth at heavyweight in 1952, and third at 191 in 1953.

He later became a wrestling coach at UT and one of the sport’s top international referees, working at the summer Olympic games in 1960, 1964, 1972, and 1976. In 1968, he was manager of the U.S. Greco-Roman wrestling team.

Wojciechowski, a two-time Ohio heavyweight state champion while at Whitmer (1967-68), later wrestled for UT in the NCAA’s heavyweight championship match in three straight years (1970-72).

In 1971 he was the NCAA champion, and in 1970 and 1972, he was runner-up.

After missing out on multiple attempts to make the U.S. Olympic team, Wojciechowski finally earned a spot in 1980, the year the United States boycotted the Moscow summer games.
