University of Toledo senior running back Terry Swanson has been a workhorse for the Rockets this season.

Through four games, Swanson leads the Mid-American Conference in carries (77), rushing yards (355), and rushing touchdowns (5). In Toledo’s up-tempo offense with a dangerous passing game, Swanson is counted on to control the game in the rushing attack.

The senior is getting a ton of carries early this season, but his yards per carry mark of 4.6 is a career-low for him. His freshman and sophomore season he averaged 6.5 yards per carry and that went down to 5.0 as a junior.

Swanson, who has previously split time with Kareem Hunt and even Damion Jones-Moore, is easily on pace for a career-high in carries.

As the season progresses and quarterback Logan Woodside continues to stretch defenses vertically in the passing game, Swanson could see his yards per carry mark increase. He has the ability to break big runs as he showed with a 49-yard TD run against Tulsa.

For now, Swanson is a high-volume rusher for Toledo and is carrying the running game for the Rockets.
