CINCINNATI - Alexander Jacques netted the game-winner, scoring twice as the Toledo Storm topped the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2.

Jacques tallied the clincher at 10:06 of the third period, as the Storm scored shorthanded while Landon Bathe was serving a two-minute penalty for interference.

Jacques took a pass from Paul Ballantyne after Nick Parillo came up with the puck. He also scored at 1:07 of the third on a power play to give the Storm a 2-1 lead.

Toledo s other goal came from Kris Waltze at 1:54 of the first period in an even-strength situation. It was Waltze s first game back since he suffered an eye injury Dec. 26.

Cincinnati s Jade Galbreath scored in the second period and Tom Rouleau in the third.

Toledo goalie Doug Teskey stopped 24 of 26 Cincinnati shots. The Cyclones Randy Petruk stopped 28 of 31.

WASHINGTON - With the team losing millions and a possible lockout on the way, the Washington Capitals could no longer afford Jaromir Jagr. They finally shipped him to one of the few teams that would take him: the New York Rangers.

After six months of off-and-on negotiations, the Capitals traded Jagr to the Rangers for forward Anson Carter, bringing an end to the All-Star s 21/2 disappointing years in Washington.

Washington owner Ted Leonsis told a radio that the Capitals would not have to pay any more of Jagr s salary this season, but they would have to pay between $4 million and $4.5 million for each of the remaining four guaranteed years of the contract.
