• Favorite sport other than hockey: I like to watch soccer and football. I played soccer growing up. I was a center striker. Both of my parents are from soccer countries. My mom [Sylvia] is from Peru and my father [David] is from Scotland. They met in Peru and moved around a lot before settling [in Kelwona]. I lived in the same house all my life.

• Favorite way to spend time away from the rink: I just like to hang out with the guys. We like to listen to Scooter [Smith] play his guitar. I like to sleep. It s just nice to relax. We ll go out to eat sometimes. But we like to cook ourselves because it saves some money.

• Hockey player(s) you admired growing up: Cliff Ronning and Trevor Linden. They played for Vancouver and they were my favorite team growing up.

• Favorite football team: The Patriots. I went to school at Boston University, so it was just a matter of following the Sox and the Patriots.

• Favorite type of music: I like a little bit of everything. I like rock, alternative and country. I like [rock group] Our Lady Peace.

• Favorite TV show: Seinfeld. That will always be my favorite. I like Prison Break, too.

• Do you have any superstitions? None. But my routine before games is that I like to skip rope and stretch as much as I can.

• Favorite sports memory: Winning the national championship in Junior A. It was in 1999 when I was 17. I played for the Vernon Vipers. That was the biggest game of my life.

• Hobby: I like to read. I like true story books, non-fiction. My favorite book is In Harm s Way. It s about the battleship USS Indianapolis that was sunk in World War II and the guys had to survive five days in the ocean.
