Walleye ripped 8-1 in Florida

ESTERO, Fla. — The Florida Everblades scored three goals in 2:03 to start the second period and went on to down the Walleye 8-1 Friday night.

Toledo is 4-8-1-1 on the season and 2-3-1-0 on the road.

Toledo sent a one-period season high 18 shots on goal in the first period but were unable to solve Jaroslav Janus.

The lone goal came from Florida's Mike McKenzie at 13:19 of the period.

“We can't do much more than we did in the first period tonight,” said Walleye coach Nick Vitucci. “Unfortunately, we couldn't get the lead, and they jumped on us in the second. The game turned ugly after that point.”

The nightmare second started with a power-play goal from Matthew Pistilli at 1:39. At 2:35 of the second, Ross Carlson's shot slipped through the pads of Joe Palmer.

Florida would make it 4-0 at 3:42 when Mitch Fadden beat Palmer with a wrist shot. The final goal of the period was a shorthanded goal by Francis Lemieux at 15:38.

Florida would continue the scoring parade in the third. The Everblades would make it 6-0 at 2:47 by Alex Imbeault. It went to 7-0 when Mathieu Roy beat Palmer with a wrist shot. Toledo would get on the board when Peter Leblanc beat Janus with a perfect wrist from the right circle for his fourth goal of the year at 13:44. Florida would add another goal when Carlson would score on a five-on-three at 15:41.

FISH TALES: Palmer stopped 21 shots and is 0-3-0-0 on the season. ... The eight goals allowed is a season high for Toledo. ... Vitucci was given a penalty and game misconduct in the third period. ... The next Toledo home game will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7:00 pm when the Walleye host Trenton.
