KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A four-goal first period buried the Walleye on Saturday, dropping their third straight game and seventh of their last eight with a 5-3 loss to Kalamazoo.

John Armstrong, Alexandre Grenier, Steven Anthony, and Yann Sauve all scored early to post a 4-1 Kalamazoo (30-26-5) lead.

Toledo’s Trevor Parkes scored once and added two assists while Byron Froese scored twice with an assist.

Jordan Pearce started and made four saves on eight shots before being pulled 11 minutes, 23 seconds into the first period.

Kent Simpson finished the game and made 17 saves off 18 shots.

The Walleye (31-22-9) peppered the Wings’ Joel Martin as the netminder had 46 stops.
