The Walleye received a boost just days before their playoff opener when forward Byron Froese was reassigned from Rockford today.

Froese ranked seventh on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 21 assists before he was called up the American Hockey League on March 12.

The Winkler, Manitoba native also has a plus-minus rating of plus 11 this season for Toledo. He has 33 points in 38 games for the Walleye.

Froese appeared in nine games with Rockford, collecting a pair of assists. The 22-year-old appeared in 57 games last year with the IceHogs, scoring four goals with six assists.

After a two-year absence, Toledo returns to the Kelly Cup playoffs and will face Cincinnati in a best-of-seven, first round series. The puck drops for Game 1 at 7:35 p.m. Friday night at the Huntington Center.

Cincinnati (42-22-8) enters as the No. 2 seed and will have home ice advantage over No. 7 seeded Toledo (37-26-9).
