Walleye lose 5th consecutive game

EVANSVILLE, Ind.— The Toledo Walleye saw a third-period lead disappear and dropped a 6-5 contest in overtime to the Evansville IceMen on Saturday.

Two days after losing a 7-3 contest with the IceMen, the Walleye saw their losing streak extend to five games.

Thomas Larkin scored his first goal of the season 3 minutes, 17 second into the extra period to secure a win for Evansville.

Toledo led 5-4 at the start of the third, but Andre Bouvet-Morrissette scored the game-tying goal for Evansville 13:29 into the third period and forced overtime.

Trevor Parkes led the charge for Toledo with two goals and an assist.

After Evansville took a 3-2 lead 4:46 into the second period, the Walleye scored in three consecutive goals. Parkes scored his second of the game and 13th of the season, followed by goals from Stephon Thorne and Louis-Marc Aubry. Toledo led 5-3.

Evansville tightened the score to 5-4 after a goal by Tom Zanoski with less than a minute remaining in the second period, before the IceMen scored two unanswered.

Mike Seidel of Evansville opened the scoring 5:35 into the opening period with his sixth goal of the season.

The Walleye scored two straight goals to answer, with Parkes scoring his 12th goal of the season. Kyle Rogers answered four minutes later on an assist from Parkes.

Toledo goalie Jared Coreau saved 31 shots, and Evansville goalie Allen York saved 23 shots.

Evansville also got goals from Jeremy Langlois and Matt Krug at the end of the first period and the beginning of the second period, respectively.

The Walleye’s next game is at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at home against Cincinnati.
