Walleye fall 7-3 to Cyclones

The Toledo Walleye suffered a 7-3 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Huntington Center tonight.

The Walleye scored twice on the power play in the final period as David Gilbert scored at 9:35 and Maxim Shalunov scored just before the final buzzer. Sylvania native Alden Hirschfeld scored the Walleye's first goal at 5:52 of the second period.

Cincinnati's third-period goal was scored by Anthony Luciani.

Cyclones goalie Rob Madore finished with 32 saves while Toledo's Hannu Toivonen stopped 30 shots.

Toledo fell to 8-15-3-0 on the season while Cincinnati now is 18-8-1-1.

SECOND PERIOD

The Toledo Walleye trail the Cincinnati Cyclones 6-1 after two periods at the Huntington Center tonight.

The Cyclones got three goals for the second straight period, with Jack Combs scoring twice (once on the power play) and Jonathan Hazen adding a goal.

Sylvania native Alden Hirschfeld scored the Walleye's first goal at 5:52 of the second period.

Cincinnati's Rob Madore stopped all but one of the 26 shots he has faced, while Toledo's Hannu Toivonen has 18 saves.

 

FIRST PERIOD

The Toledo Walleye trail the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-0 after one period at the Huntington Center tonight.

Cincinnati got a power-play goal from Logan Shaw, then even-strength goals from Paul Crowder and Trevor Lewis for its early three-goal lead.

Cyclones goalie Rob Madore stopped all 12 shots he faced, while Walleye goalie Hannu Toivonen had 11 saves.
