Toledo goalie Hanuu Toivonen, who finished with 25 saves in regulation, then stopped four of five Kalamazoo skaters in the shootout to earn the win.

The Walleye fell behind 1-0 just 1:57 into the game. Kalamazoo goalie Joel Martin was then sharp and finished with 38 saves.

Perlini then scored on a rebound after Rogers had a good chance.

Shalunov opened the shootout by beating Martin and then McDowell, who was Toledo’s second skater, scored. Toivonen stopped the Wings’ final four shooters.

The teams meet again today.

The Walleye host the Wings at 5:15 at the Huntington Center.
