The Walleye suffered their fifth straight loss tonight as they fell 3-2 in overtime at home to Kalamazoo.

Matt Firman scored the game winner 1:12 into the overtime.

Toledo captain Kyle Rogers tied the game at 2 with 4:44 to go in regulation. Rogers tallied his 14th of the season on a perfectly placed shot over Kalamazoo goalie Jordan Binnington's shoulder.

Toledo rookie Max Shalunov tallied his team-high 16th goal of the season to tie it at 1 in the second period before an announced crowd of 5,010 at the Huntington Center

But Kalamazoo regained a one-goal lead as Nick Sirota scored on a tip shot just as a Kalamazoo power play expired. The Wings went up 2-1 with 3:12 left in second.

Walleye goalie Hannu Toivonen, who has been in net for 12 of the Walleye's 21 wins, has now started in 14 of the team's last 16 games. Toivonen (12-16-0) finished with 24 saves.

With Toledo on its third power play, Shalunov scored to tie it at 1 with 6:28 left in the second period. He had seven points, including five goals, against Kalamazoo this season. Joe Gleason and Kyle Rogers had the assists.

With 13:00 left, Toledo's Kristoff Kontos was robbed by Jordan Binnington on a point-blank chance.

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 with 5:35 left in the first period as Ryan Del Monte scored. Del Monte poked a loose puck in over Toivonen.

Toivonen had been strong early with two solid saves to keep it scoreless.

Rogers got in alone on Binnington but couldn't score.

Toledo (21-43-6) plays its final road game on Saturday when the team travels to Fort Wayne. The Walleye then host Cincinnati in the season finale on Sunday.
