Walleye continued to draw well despite poor play


A total of 1,129,697 fans have attended Toledo Walleye games since the team's inaugural season in 2009.

This season 216,797 attended the Walleye's 36 games at the Huntington Center. The organization ranked fourth in the ECHL for overall attendance despite the team missing the playoffs with a 21-44-7 record.

On Jan. 12, the Walleye honored the 1 millionth fan to come through the turnstiles at the arena.

The organization also set several franchise records this season, including a 16 percent increase in party suite rentals with 117. The organization also raised $65,826 for local charities and Walleye Wishing Well through various fund-raisers.

More than 10,000 tickets have already been sold for the Walleye's two outdoor games that will take place in downtown Toledo next season. The Walleye Winterfest will be a 10-day event at Fifth Third Field. It will include the first two outdoor games in ECHL history. The games will be played on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, and Jan. 3, 2015.
