Walleye's Pat Nagle named runner-up for ECHL goalie of the month

Toledo Walleye goaltender Pat Nagle was named runner-up for the ECHL's goalie of the month award.

Nagle, who is in his first season with Toledo, posted a 4-0-1 record with a 1.94 goals-against average in October. The 30-year-old also twice was named runner-up for the league's goalie of the week award.

The native of Bloomfield, Mich., also moved into 25th place on the ECHL's career shutouts list with his 3-0 win against Quad City in the Walleye's home opener Oct. 21. He has 11 career shutouts.

Nagle, who signed with Toledo in the offseason, leads the league in minutes played (340) and is tied for the lead in wins. He also is tied for fourth in the league in goals-against average and shutouts.

“He's been dynamite for us,” Walleye coach Dan Watson said. “He's our rock back there. He's a true pro.”

Nagle, who played for Toledo's rival in Fort Wayne last season, has started in six of the Walleye's seven games this season. Nagle has played six pro seasons, primarily in the ECHL for Fort Wayne, Florida, and Idaho. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound netminder earned the victory Tuesday in Toledo's 3-2 win at Worcester.

Devin Williams of the Tulsa Oilers was named the ECHL's goaltender of the month for October. The 22-year-old went 4-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.83 GAA, and a save percentage of .949 in five appearances during the month.

Toledo (4-2-1) returns home Saturday after a four-game road trip to host Kalamazoo, then plays at Indy on Sunday.
