AUDITIONS

 Auditions for the musical "The Thing About Men" will be held Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Valentine Theatre's Studio A Stage. Performances will be on weekends from  Feb. 28 to March 16. The plot, which blends humor with intrigue, revolves around Tom, who is cheating on his wife, Lucy; and Lucy, who is cheating on Tom with Sebastian. Tom moves out on Lucy and, in disguise, moves in with Sebastian. Those auditioning should prepare a Broadway-style ballad and upbeat number and bring sheet music with them. They will read from the script. No dance is required. Principals are two women, one of whom plays multiple roles, and three men, one of whom plays several roles. Appointments and walk-ins welcome. SCARY FUN

Spooky Science Nights: Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland. Tours of the Screamship Mather (the Great Lakes freighter behind the science center): Little Goblins Tour, more fun than scary, for ages11 and under. Reserved tours Fri., Sat., every 20 minutes between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. Terror Tour for ages 12 and older, reserved tours Fri., Sat., every 20 minutes between 7:50 and 9:30 pm. Also, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the science center,  experiment with screaming ghosts, witness pumpkin explosions, create glow-in-the-dark concoctions, see the Electric Madness Show, or watch OMNIMAX movie, Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs.  Cost is $12, $10 for members.
