2 members leaving county's workforce policy board

12/27/2006

Resignations by two members of the Fulton County Workforce Policy Board were accepted last week by county commissioners.

Catherine Mikula, who was employed by Sauder Woodworking Co., represented large industry on the board since 2001.

She has taken a position at Defiance College.

Becky Thatcher, who was employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation, represented labor on the board since its inception in 2000.

She has taken a position with another state agency in Lucas County.

Their departures leave three seats vacant on the 13-member board, which is required to consist of members employed in Fulton County.

The board is charged with setting local policy to ensure that an efficient work-force development system exists for employers and job seekers.

The third vacant seat on the board represents industry and has been unfilled for about a year.

The county commissioners make appointments to the work-force board.
