Fulton School to mark centennial

4/30/2008

AI - Alumni from throughout Fulton School's history will gather to celebrate its 100th anniversary on May 3.

The special reunion will honor the year the now-defunct school opened in 1908. Fulton School, in the small community of Ai, was absorbed into the Evergreen School District in 1968.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Evergreen Elementary School, 14844 County Road 6, the alumni association's president will make a special presentation on the history of the school. The programming will include a visit from Meredyth Turpening Lenfefty, who was born the year the school opened, said Penny Reder, an officer with the alumni association.

According to Mrs. Reder, 180 people have committed to attending; invitations have been mailed to more than 400.

"Anyone who ever graduated is invited," Mrs. Reder said. "We've got people coming from all over the country."
