Sylvania

•Historic ARTventures Summer Arts and Crafts Camp is being offered at Sylvania Historical Village, 5717 North Main St. This camp is open to children who have completed 3rd, 4th or 5th grades this year. •Toledo School for the Arts to present a free celebration of music and song in a Music in the Park Concert at 7 p.m. May 29 in the Ottawa Park amphitheater.

•Trilby United Methodist Church will host a barbecue chicken dinner fund-raiser for youth camp from 4-7 p.m. May 30 at the church, 5918 Secor Rd. •The Lucas County Master Gardner's Speakers Bureau will be presenting its second session in the Victory Garden Lecture Series from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 10 at Toledo Botanical Garden's Conference Center, 5403 Elmer Drive. Keep on Growing is a follow-up to the first session on getting a vegetable garden started. Topics to be covered in separate workshops include growing herbs, themed gardens, permaculture (perennial agriculture), recipes, nutrition, composting, calculating yield, and sharing bounty with others. •Rev. Dee Baker of Toledo Campus Ministries will present a talk, Art and Spirituality, at 7 p.m. June 1 at the Servant Leadership Center, 1618 West Sylvania Ave. Rev. Baker is both a pastor and master potter. The public is welcome to the free event.

Wauseon

•Memorial Benefit for the late Susan Renee Marksch (wife of Henry Marksch) at Elm Street Hall on State Route 2, from 2-9 p.m. on May 30. Spaghetti dinner, raffles, auction, silent auction, bake sale, and 50/50. Live band: Ruf Kut starting at 5 p.m. Texas Hold'Em Tournament starts at 5 p.m. with cost of $35. Inflatables, games, and other activities for youths.

Astronomy

•The Toledo Astronomical Association in cooperation with the Olander and Park Systems will conduct public viewing at Sylvan Prairie (off Brint just west of Centennial) from 9-11:30 p.m. May 29, weather permitting. Saturn will be the principal object of interest. The relative position of Earth and Saturn are such that Saturn's rings have largely disappeared. The rings will appear as a black line across the face of the planet and a brighter line on either side of the planet. This event occurs approximately every 13 years.
