Sylvania Township will host Sylvania Safety Township, the week-long safety program for children, June 17 to 21. The program, which has been running for more than 25 years, teaches children various safety issues.

The program is open to children of the prekindergarten age who live in the Sylvania School District. This program, offered once a year, will be at Central Trail Elementary School, 4321 Mitchaw Rd. To register or for more information or to download an application, visit sylvaniatownship.com/Police_Topics.aspx. There is a $30 registration fee.

During the five days the children spend at Safety Township, they will learn about numerous safety-related topics by licensed teachers, in a classroom setting. Police officers, fire personnel, as well as a daily guest speaker will interact with children while teaching them safety in a fun and safe atmosphere.

Guest speakers include members of the Sylvania Township Police Department, Sylvania Schools Transportation Department, Lucas County Dog Warden, Lucas County EMS, Operation Lifesaver, Flower Hospital Emergency Room, and Toledo Edison.
