Man shoots himself in head at Paris school

PARIS — Paris police say that a man committed suicide at a private Catholic school in central Paris by shooting himself in the head.

The shooting took place shortly before noon today as children were leaving the school premises for the lunch break, according to two police officials. Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe’s office said in a statement that a dozen children witnessed the shooting.

The La Rochefoucauld school is located in the 7th district on Paris’ Left Bank, and educates children from nursery school to high school. School officials would not comment.
