KARACHI, Pakistan — Police say one of the guards for Pakistan's president and two police officers have been killed in a suicide bombing in southern Pakistan.

The spokesman for President Asif Ali Zardari says the leader was not near the scene of the attack when it happened today in the southern city of Karachi.

Senior police officer Raja Umar Khatab says 11 people also were wounded in the bombing.

Khatab says the suicide attacker targeted the guard's vehicle when he stopped to buy fruit from a market.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar says slain guard Bilal Sheikh was not a government employee, but was working as one of the private security officers for Zardari.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Police said they were still investigating.
