BEIJING  — Chinese state media say a bus driver angry over being punished by his company has driven a bus into a pack of bicyclists and motorcyclists, injuring 27 people.

The state-run China News Service says the bus driver — identified only by his surname Li — had been fined by his company and put on leave for exceeding the speed limit.

It says the upset driver went to a maintenance site today and took an empty bus which he plowed into the people in the southern Chinese city of Shunde in Guangdong province.

China News says Li was detained by police on charges of endangering public safety.
