Iraq officials raise death toll in Sunday attacks across the country to 31

BAGHDAD — Iraqi officials have raised the death toll in today’s attacks across the country to 31.

Police officials say the attacks have also left dozens wounded.

They say the deadliest of the attacks today was in the southern city of Hillah, where back-to-back car bombings hit a commercial market, killing eight people and wounding 22.

Other attacks struck at outdoor markets and bus stations in the cities of Diwaniyah, Basra, Kut, Samarra, Madain and Mahmoudiyah, killing a total of 23 people.

Medical officials confirmed the causalities. Both police and medical officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
