Officials in Iraq say 2 bombings kill 11 people north of the capital, Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Authorities in Iraq say two bombings, including a suicide attack at a security checkpoint, have killed 11 people north of the capital, Baghdad.

Police officials say the deadliest attack happened today when a suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into the security checkpoint in the town of Dujail, killing six security force members and a civilian. They say the attack wounded 15 people.

Dujail is 50 miles north of Baghdad.

Earlier, police say a bomb blast at an outdoor market killed four people and wounded 17 in the town of Tarmiyah, just north of the capital.

Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures for all attacks. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to journalists.
