KABUL, Afghanistan  — An Afghan military official says gunmen have attacked the Kabul Airport in the capital.

Afzal Aman, a general in the Afghan army in Kabul, said two buildings north of the airport have been taken over by the gunmen and they were using the buildings as a base to shot rockets and gunfire toward the airport and ISAF jet fighters flying over Kabul.

Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi says the gunmen who captured the building have been surrounded by the police. He did not have any immediate details on causalities.
