Mime worship workshop

Desiree Ross of South Carolina leads a mime worship workshop in Toledo on Sept. 21-22. Ms. Ross is the mentor of a local mime minister, Dynasty Davis of Dancing to Our Destiny Mime Ministry. Ms. Ross has ministered internationally as a mime and currently instructs it at Kingdom Life Academy International. She and her daughter, Cheyenne, minister as Hiz Breath Mime.

The workshop encompasses a worship service at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 and a performance at 7 p.m. Sept. 22. Both are free. Registration for the workshop, which begins at 8 a.m. on Sept. 22 and culminates with the performance, is $50 before Sept. 15 or $60 at the door. Sylvania Franciscan Gala

The Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania host their annual Sylvania Franciscan Gala on Sept. 22. The gala supports the community’s ministries, including Lourdes University, Bethany House, Sophia Counseling Center, Rosary Care Center, Our Lady of Grace Hall, and Convent Park Apartments. Tickets are $100; to sponsor a sister’s seat at the gala is $125.

This year’s gala awardees at Janet Robinson, of Sylvania, recognized with the St. Francis Award, and Gloria Renda, of Steubenville, recognized with the St. Clare Award.

Evangelist in Toledo

The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance welcomes the Rev. Joseph Edhuine to Toledo this weekend. Reverend Edhuine is an evangelist and author of The Consciousness of Righteousness: How to Release God’s Power within You! He is originally of Haiti and is a graduate of the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Port-Au-Prince.

Reverend Edhuine will speak and sign books at 6 p.m. Monday at Search-lite Community Church, 200 E. Broadway, Maumee. He will also attend that church’s worship service at 11:30 a.m. Sunday and speak at the regular monthly meeting of the IMA at 1 p.m. Monday. The IMA meets at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, 831 N. Detroit Ave.

International Festival

The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo hosts its 18th annual International Festival on Sept. 15-16. The festival highlights a wide variety of ethnicities, reflecting the diversity of the religious community. It features more than 100 types of food representing more than 20 countries. There are also cooking demonstrations, cultural presentations, live music, and mosque tours, as well as rides, games, and children’s activities.

The festival runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 15 and noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 16. Admission is free; parking is $3 per car. For more information, contact icgtfestival@yahoo.com.

Positive People

The Positive People Partners and Followers of Jesus host “Happy Talk/Happy Walk” at the Cherry Street Mission Ministries Life Revitalization Center, 1501 Monroe St., at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The happiness-focused celebration builds momentum toward the 25th annual National Forgiveness and Happiness Day on Oct. 7. That event is at noon outside the United Way of Greater Toledo, 424 Jackson St.
