An exhibit to help raise money for northwest Ohio homeless people will kick off tomorrow night with a VIP premier gala of a photo exhibit featuring the work of rock music photographer Harry Sandler.

The event at 20 North Gallery, 18 N. St. Clair St., will be from 6 to 10 p.m. and it will officially open "Harry Sandler: Music, iPhone & Other Neighborhoods," an exhibit to benefit 1Matters.

Mr. Sandler, who was a tour manager for musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, Van Halen, the Eagles, and others, took numerous photographs of the artists over the years. He's also a pioneer in what is called the iPhoneography movement, which harnesses emerging technology in processing his photos.

He will conduct a silent auction of some of his photographs signed by the artists with whom he's worked. The $100 ticket includes a wine bar, hors d'ouevres, and music by the Claude Black Trio.

Co-chairmen of the event are Toledo Mayor Mike Bell, Lucas County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak, Toledo city councilmen Tom Waniewski and Steve Steel, State Rep. Teresa Fedor (D., Toledo), and Majida Mourad.

The exhibit is open to the public Sunday and runs through Oct. 30.

Sandler and 20 North gallery are donating all proceeds to benefit 1Matters, an organization committed to "moving families with children and individuals into domestic autonomy and providing services at the annual Tent City." Information: 1Matters.org or email info@1matters.org.

On Saturday, Sandler will conduct a class called iPhone Photography 101 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 20 North gallery. The cost is $40 and it will teach how to make creative images with the iPhone. Sandler will discuss the software available, how to use it, the finesse of the picture, and the many options available for further education.

    To register email events@1matters.org.

On Sunday, the 1Mile Matters Walk will be at 10 a.m. and will end at the Erie Street Market for an all-day benefit concert and the opening of Sandler's exhibit.

Information and walk registration are available at 1Matters.org or info@1matters.org. Walkers are asked to bring socks to donate to the homeless. Music will be featured all day at the Erie Street Market starting at noon and culminating with a performance by the Homewreckers at 8 p.m. Also performing will be Brian Vander Ark, formerly of the Verve Pipe, at 7 p.m. and Pat Lewandowski and the Gray Devils at 6 p.m.
