Local authors plan signings

6/30/2002

The Toledo authors of a new science fiction novel will sign copies July 20 at Thackeray's Books at the Westgate Village Shopping Center.

Patrick Codden and Theodore Ransburg spent about 18 months writing G.E.E.N.E.E. In a Bottle, set in the distant future. A brilliant scientist working on one of Saturn's moons creates a living computer, which is stolen by aliens. A government agent is assigned to retrieve it and the search takes them to the criminal center of the universe.

The authors' signing of the 194-page paperback book will begin at 1 p.m.

Former Toledoan Larry Rochelle has published a book aimed at college freshmen. Prof Rap is full of real advice given irreverent treatment, said Mr. Rochelle, a professor of English at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, in suburban Kansas City.

The 97-page paperback, useful for commuting or residential students, includes his observations from 20 years of teaching college, including don't snap your fingers to get the professor's attention, and do save money by purchasing used books and compact discs instead of new ones.

Mr. Rochelle graduated from the University of Toledo in 1962 and from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1958.
