'America's Got Talent' finalist appears at Funny Bone

  • Preacher Lawson will perform Friday through Sunday at Funny Bone (at Fat Fish Blue in Levis Commons), 6140 Levis Commons Blvd.

    Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday; 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased online at bit.ly/2ACsHOr.

    Winner of 2015’s Funniest Comedian In Florida award, Lawson moved 20 times before age 10 but considers Orlando his hometown. Last year, he won the Seattle International Comedy Competition.

    He started writing jokes when he was 16, and began performing a year later. He’s appeared on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly and on NBC's America's Got Talent. For information, go to bit.ly/2k4tgcP.

    SLAM! Battle of the Stages: The Final Round is at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Peacock Cafe, 2007 Monroe St.

    The two-hour event is billed as a veritable war of words, in which the winner will walk away with $400 cash.

    Tickets, which are $5 for general admission seating and $10 for vendor tables, can be purchased through eventbrite.combit.ly/2AdPHSV. Fat Boyz by Al & Zoe will serve food, with desserts from Sweet Pearl Confections. The event is hosted by DOPE WordSmith.

    Holidays in the Manor House begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and runs through Dec. 17.

    The free, family oriented event has been presented by Metroparks Toledo for more than 40 years. Community volunteers have transformed more than 30 areas of the Manor House at Wildwood Preserve Metropark, 5100 W. Central Ave. into a holiday wonderland, according to the park district, which also said the event attracts more than 25,000 each Christmas season.

    ■ The annual Tiffin Holiday House Tour presented by Tiffin Historic Trust is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

    Tickets are $10 and are available in advance at Tiffin Ace Hardware, 1550 W. Market St., and on the day of the tour at the Grammes-Brown House, 172 Jefferson St., Tiffin.

    This year’s tour includes homes within the historic district that have never before been featured, as well as one just north of town. The newest home on the tour was built at the end of the 20th century.
