Another cute picture of a boy and his dog.
But this isn’t just any boy and any dog.
This Blade archive photo from October, 1953, shows Bill Welever pulling the Scott High School mascot in a wagon.
Bill was the son of legendary Scott athlete and longtime athletic director Watson Welever.
The younger Welever turned out to be an All-City League guard for the Woodward football team.
His dad is a City League Hall of Famer whose career spanned five decades, most notably as athletic director at his alma mater from 1952-68. After his standout career at Scott, Watson Welever played football and track and Ohio State University for a season before transferring to Michigan Normal College — now Eastern Michigan University — in Ypsilanti.
