Walbridge marks centennial

'The Sandlot' to be shown at Fifth Third Field

The village of Walbridge is gearing up to celebrate its 100th anniversary with three days of fun. The festivities will take place from noon to 11 p.m. today through Saturday at Loop Park. The event will feature amusement rides, food, craft and business vendors, live entertainment, health exhibits, and historical displays of Walbridge. Friday is family day and live bands will play on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, there will be a parade at 11 a.m., and a senior health fair provided by the Mercy Health Van will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Information: walbridgeohio.org.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the classic movie The Sandlot, David Mickey Evans, director and narrator of the film, will be in Toledo to host a special screening at Fifth Third Field on Friday. The movie will begin immediately following the Mud Hens game and postgame fireworks display. There is no additional charge for the movie. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the stadium box office.

Ahoy matey! The Toledo Yacht Club will host a pirate party from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Highlights will include food, music, contests, and more. The event is open to the public and admission is $5. Information: toledoyachtclub.org.
