Cedar Point announces indoor water park plans
SANDUSKY — Months after talk of a new indoor water park started circulating, Cedar Point announced plans yesterday for a $22 million Caribbean-style amusement park/resort. Work has begun on Castaway Bay, located at the entrance to the Cedar Point Causeway. The resort, which will be open year-round, is slated to be completed in November, 2004. The 51,000-square-foot complex will be a major expansion to the park’s existing Radisson Harbour Inn property. Castaway Bay will feature 237 hotel rooms and suites, a 38,000-square-foot indoor water park, arcade, day spa, restaurants, and an adjacent marina. The water park will feature 12 water slides, a 100,000-gallon wave pool, children’s pool, and 520-foot-long water roller coaster that will propel riders with water jets. News of the park was made public this summer when the company appeared before the Sandusky City Council for zoning approvals and tax abatements.
