ONE BIG, HAPPY FAMILY

Gladys Carpenter of Adrian, with husband David, welcomes a new member of the family. Mrs. Carpenter is holding Devan, 2, whom they adopted yesterday in Hillsdale County Probate Court during the fourth annual Michigan Adoption
Day, in which local courts fi nalize the proceedings matching children with their new parents. At left is Shawney, 5, and at right, Reshawn, 4, whom the couple adopted in February, 2004. The Carpenters also have three children of their own.
