Boston Place family loses home in blaze
A family of four was left homeless yesterday when an arson fire gutted their house, destroyed their pickup truck, and damaged a house next door in the 300 block of Boston Place near Fulton Street in central Toledo, authorities said.
Katie Duschl; her husband, Michael Duschl, and their children, ages 2˝ years and 6 months, escaped unhurt from their house at 345 Boston about 4 a.m. after Mr. Duschl was awakened by smoke that was coming from a fire in the back of the house, Ms. Duschl said.
After waking his family, Mr. Duschl rushed to the house next door at 351 Boston and woke up Lois Norman. Fire crews had the blaze under control in about 40 minutes.
The fire at the Duschls’ house started at an enclosed rear porch. The total damage was estimated at $60,000, authorities said.
