Clinton man is arraigned in plot to kill couple

ADRIAN - A Clinton, Mich., man accused of hiring another man to murder a northern Michigan couple to whom he has ties was arraigned yesterday in Lenawee County District Court, authorities said.

Brad Rounds, 47, who was charged with solicitation of murder, a felony, was being held in the county jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 3.

Mr. Rounds was arrested Wednesday in Macomb County, Mich., said Sgt. Steve O'Neill, of the Adrian post of the Michigan State Police.

The sergeant would not provide details of the relationship between Mr. Rounds and the couple.

Authorities began investigating Mr. Rounds Feb. 1 after the man he hired reported him to the Clinton Police Department, which then asked the state police to investigate, Sergeant O'Neill said.
