Man hurt in ATV crash near Fostoria

FOSTORIA — An area man was hurt when an all-terrain-vehicle he was driving crashed Tuesday night on Hancock County Road 218 about two miles southwest of this community, authorities said.
Richard Ernest, 43, of rural Arcadia, was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Ernest was later transferred to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, where he was admitted, a hospital spokesman said Wednesday morning. His condition was unavailable, she said.
The crash occurred about 10:05 p.m. in Washington Township between Hancock County Road 257 and Washington Township Road 256, sheriff’s deputies said.
Mr. Ernest was driving west on the snow-covered Road 218 when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and turned over, throwing him off and knocking a helmet off his head, they said.
The accident was under investigation.
Fostoria is about 35 miles south of Toledo.
